Become accredited to undertake approved activities under the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program.
How to become a VEU accredited person
Overview
How to apply to become accredited
Only accredited persons are able to create certificates under the Victorian Energy Upgrades program. To apply to become an accredited person, you must:
- open a VEU administrative account
- read the Application Guide for Accredited Persons at the bottom of this page
- complete your accreditation application form, using the Accreditation Application Form Template in the 'Applications forms' tab on this page
- login to your VEU administrative account to submit your completed accreditation application form and provide all requested supporting documentation. You can obtain a VEET scheme registry account as part of your accreditation application process (required from 1 November 2023 to be eligible to create and hold Victorian energy efficiency certificates)
- pay the required $3000 accreditation fee (once you have been invoiced by us)
- we will let you know if we require additional information to assess your application.
Your accreditation will be valid for 12 months from the date it is approved and will need to be renewed annually. Applications for renewal must be submitted at least 90 calendar days before expiry.
We will decide whether to approve or refuse an application for accreditation or renewal of existing accreditation. Our assessment includes considering whether you are fit and proper, and competent and capable, to be accredited to participate in the VEU program.
Access the appropriate application form in the application forms tab.
Application assessment timeframes
Delays assessing accreditation renewal applications: We currently have a backlog of accreditation and renewal applications which has unfortunately resulted in delays in assessing applications. We apologise to those affected by the delay and are making every effort to work through the backlog and assess applications as quickly as possible.
We are required to make a decision on an application within a period of 20 business days, or a longer period that we agree with you. The period commences from the day we receive your complete application with accompanying fee.
Where we require further information in relation to your application, the timeframe may be paused to enable that information to be provided.
If no decision is made within the time period, your application is taken to have been refused.
If you are already accredited
Since 1 July 2023, all accredited persons are required to renew their accreditation annually. Further information on when you need to make that application and how to go about making that application can be found here. Existing accredited persons may also apply to vary their accreditation, including applying to undertake new activities. More information on varying your accreditation can be found here.
Accreditation renewal applications can take several months in total to finalise if they are incomplete and we need to request further information from you. To speed up the assessment time we recommend that you:
- refer to the application, program and relevant activity guides for information
- submit a complete application form along with all required supporting materials, ensuring you use the Renewal of Accreditation Application Form if you are renewing your accreditation
- respond to RFIs in a timely manner addressing all aspects identified as incomplete
- apply for multiple activities in one application.
