Changes to product application guides

Update to the Application Guide for Product Applicants

We have released an update to the Application Guide for Product Applicants to clarify the requirements for product test reports, safety certificates, compliance certificates, and other third-party approvals when submitting product applications: 

• Clarifying that product testing based on Australian or international standards must be conducted at an approved laboratory (and not an accredited laboratory) to better align with the wording in the VEET Regulations.
• Providing further information on how the commission uses digital signatures to verify and authenticate product test reports. We encourage applicants to use laboratories with built-in digital verification methods for test reports to facilitate quicker approvals of their product applications. 
• Clarifying that applicants need to provide for current certificates when submitting product applications 

Update to Water Heating and Space Heating Cooling Product Application Guide 

We have updated table 3 of the Water Heating and Space Heating/Cooling Product Application Guide to clarify the application process for products which are registered as both ducted and non-ducted products in the GEMS register.

Standards Australia has advised the commission of an issue in the application of certain formulae in the relevant Australian Standard (AS/NZS 3823.4.1:2014, Performance of electrical appliances) that can lead to the generation of anomalous TCSPF values in space heating and cooling products under activity 6. We added Appendix E to the Water Heating and the Space Heating Cooling Activity Guide to explain how we process those products with anomalous TCSPF values
