Enforcement action against Auspro Group Pty Ltd
A commission investigation identified Victorian energy efficiency certificates (VEECs) created by accredited business Auspro Group Pty Ltd (Auspro) that allegedly breached the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program rules.
Alleged breach
Auspro allegedly breached the VEU program rules by creating 298 VEECs that did not comply with the rules, due to inaccurate claims about baseline lighting and upgrades installed.
The relevant installations were carried out by an installer on Auspro’s behalf. Auspro, as the accredited business, is responsible for making sure any installer acting on its behalf and VEECs created comply with the program rules.
No financial cost to consumers was identified as a result of this alleged breach.
Our decision
The commission decided to:
- Order the surrender of 298 non-compliant Victorian energy efficiency certificates valued at almost $30,000.
- Warn Auspro against future non-compliance and remind them of their obligation as an accredited business to have adequate systems, policies and procedures to monitor the compliance of anyone undertaking activities on their behalf, such as installers.
Note: the certificate value on this page is based on the spot price of $93.90 as at 28 March 2024.
