Lighting upgrades undertaken in a building or structure covered by the Building Code of Australia are 'building based activities' under the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program.

Building based lighting upgrades eligibility
Building based lighting upgrades (activity 34) are undertaken in a building or structure covered under the Building Code of Australia. This includes external lighting affixed to the building or structure. For example, a building based lighting upgrade may be undertaken in an eligible:
- office
- warehouse
- retail space
- undercover carpark.
To be eligible for this activity, a premises must not be a:
- new building (the program only applies to retrofits of existing buildings)
- 'scheduled activity premises' as defined in Regulation 4 of the VEET Regulations, unless it has been 'opted in' to the program as described in Regulation 28.

Get involved
If you are interested in undertaking building based lighting activities you can either:
- work with an accredited person who is accredited to undertake building based lighting upgrades
- apply for accreditation or, if you are already an accredited person, apply for additional activity approval.
Get lighting products approved
Any product installed as part of this activity must be listed on our Register of Products at the time of certificate creation.
