Regulator releases draft guideline on self-reporting non-compliance with the Water Industry Standards

The Essential Services Commission has commenced consultation on resources designed to assist water businesses to comply with their reporting obligations set out in the Water Industry Standards.  

The resources will help strengthen the water consumer protection framework by helping to ensure the commission is made aware of critical service issues in a timely way, and therefore able to take action to support better customer outcomes. 

The commission is seeking feedback on the draft self-reporting of non-compliance guideline and draft template for self-reporting non-compliance which are both available on the Essential Services Commission website now.

Submissions can be made by email to water.compliance@esc.vic.gov.au until 10 September 2024.

The final guideline is expected to be published in October 2024. 

The commission will continue to engage with the water sector to provide an appropriate level of assistance for water businesses as they comply with their obligations to self-report under the Water Industry Standards.
