Regulator invites public submissions on TCV licence application
10 September 2024
The Essential Services Commission is inviting public submissions about Transmission Company Victoria Pty Ltd’s (TCV) application for an electricity transmission licence in Victoria.
Essential Services Commission Chairperson Gerard Brody says the public submission process is a crucial part of Victoria’s electricity licencing process.
“I encourage anyone with an interest in TCV’s application for a licence to transmit electricity in Victoria—whether you are an affected landowner, a community representative, or just someone interested in energy infrastructure development—to have your say through our public consultation process. We will consider all public submissions in our assessment of TCV’s licence application.
“We are holding two online public information sessions where you can learn more about TCV’s licence application, how the commission assesses licence applications, and how to make a submission.”
The commission has a role to promote the long-term interests of Victorian consumers with respect to the price, quality and reliability of essential services and may grant a licence if satisfied that:
The applicant has the technical capacity to comply with the conditions of the licence, including that it has the capacity to operate and manage the business, comply with licence conditions and comply with relevant regulatory obligations.
The applicant is financially viable (where applicable).
The applicant is a ‘fit and proper’ person to hold a licence in Victoria.
