Essential stories: Kate from the Organisational Performance team
13 February 2023
I'm the Information Management Project Manager in the Organisational Performance team at the commission.
I first joined the commission to manage an internal audit project that identified ways the organisation could work more effectively. I think I probably had a certain perception of what the commission might be like - bureaucratic and slow-moving but it isn't like that at all. I quickly realised that the commission and I share many of the same values: practicality, positivity and a burning desire to get important things done.
I'm trusted to do my job, I'm respected for my expertise and I'm provided with opportunities to contribute to interesting and diverse projects. I'm also very impressed by how accessible the commissioners are. We can bring ideas directly to them and they're judged on their merits.
Outside of the commission, I run two businesses. I also co-host a podcast called The Bayside Bubble so there's never a dull day.
I daydream about living in Puglia, Italy for a few months of the year. I know the commission is really supportive of flexible working arrangements so perhaps they'll let me work from there...
