Essential stories: Jason from the Victorian Energy Upgrades team
03 March 2023
I'm a Project Officer at the Victorian Energy Upgrades division at the commission.
I'm a little older than some of my colleagues and experienced enough to know what works for me. I don't dream about being promoted. I just appreciate doing a good job and sharing my knowledge with colleagues who are all passionate about helping everyday Victorians. It's a real joy to be working in a team that helps Victorians reduce their energy bills and carbon footprint.
I love my job because it's flexible enough for me to pursue my passions outside of work. Going to Melbourne Storm games with my daughters is something I absolutely treasure. I enjoy getting lost in thought about the origins of the universe. I restore mid-century furniture and I write. I've actually published a book with John Birmingham. He wrote He Died with a Felafel in His Hand and I'm currently working on my next book!

The Essential Services Commission is made up of a diverse range of people who bring something unique to our workplace. In 2023, our 'essential stories' series showcases some of our team members and why the work they do here is important to them. Follow us on LinkedIn for regular 'essential stories' updates.
We regulate participants and products in the Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU) program to deliver energy efficiency improvements which are more affordable for consumers, and reduces their long term energy consumption.
