AusNet Services penalty notices 2023 (notifying customers of planned interruptions)
AusNet Services has paid penalties totalling over $40,000 after we issued penalty notices on 10 March 2023. We issued the penalties to AusNet Services for the alleged failure to notify customers of a planned interruption in June 2022.
The Electricity Distribution Code of Practice requires distributors to provide customers with at least 4 business days written notice in hard copy of a planned interruption. AusNet allegedly breached the rules by failing to provide any notice to four customers, including a customer registered with AusNet as requiring life support equipment, of a three-hour, planned power interruption that took place in Wodonga in June 2022.
